From Ingrid LeMasters:
"I\'m sending this to all riders who helped with our TIER fundraising CTC on March 13. ACTHA has registered with the Guinness Book of World Records to stage the largest 1-day trail riding competition on record. This is ACTHA\'S announcement and description of the event: \"IT\'S OFFICIAL, GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS HAS ACCEPTED OUR APPLICATION TO SET A WORLD RECORD FOR THE LARGEST ONE DAY TRAIL RIDING COMPETITION...EVER! (Actually maybe the largest trail ride ever...gotta check the Punic wars!) ACTHA, with the marketing assistance of the Humane Soceity of the United States, will be sanctioning at least one ride, in every state....ON THE SAME DAY! That day is June13th, 2010! Mark your calendars and be part of history! Over 2,500 trail riders and their mounts will be RIDING FOR THE RESCUES!!! It\'s too early to give you many more details but I do know we\'ll be having a special sign up page at www.actha.us to keep the attempt organized and to comply with Guinness\'s observer rules and certifications. Your local media will be covering your ride as well. I also know ACTHA will have some pretty exciting options for you when you sign up! So far we\'re talking about commemorative belt buckles very attractively priced thanks to ACTHA sponsor Molly\'s Custom Silver! Also you will be able to sign up for a certificate from Guinness commemorating your attempt and another if we are successful! Most importantly we hope to raise over $100,000 for horses in dire need NOW! In one day! That\'s the power of the Trail Rider and the \"not JUST a trail horse anymore\" horses of ACTHA!!! All ride proceeds, even your local rider managers fees are going into the Rescue Pot! (Make sure you give your local ride manager a good pat on the back!) But you\'ll still be riding for the $1,200 in ACTHA Bucks at every event! And heaven knows what our sponsors are going to come up with as extras!\" **** I\'ve registered a ride with ACTHA for that date, and am co-hosting it at Marshall Canyon in La Verne with Richard & Carmen of Oak Knoll Ranch. Richard was actually the first California affiliate to reserve the date, but he has agreed to move his event north and combine our rides, to avoid conflicting with a joint ACTHA/CSHA competition that is scheduled for the same weekend. If you aren\'t competing in Anza on the 12th -13th of June, I\'d like to invite you to participate in the SoCal Guinness Ride with us. Details are available on the ACTHA ride page (there is not a separate page for this project, yet)."
